Behind every carbon credit sits a household, a water point, a tree still standing. This page is where those numbers come from — one workbook, cited to source, dated to the day.
How the numbers get here.
Every impact figure on sanitap.org — cookstoves distributed, water points repaired, tonnes of CO₂e avoided, hectares of forest not cleared — is drawn from a single Excel workbook the SaniTap team maintains.
When a number changes there, it changes everywhere it's cited: the home page stat-strip, the live impact tracker, the individual project pages, and any Knowledge Hub article that quotes it. That's what "one source of truth" means in practice: no chance of a stale figure surviving in a corner of the site because nobody remembered to update it.
Each number carries its source — the report, monitoring exercise or external dataset it comes from — and an as-of date, so you can see when the figure was last confirmed. Programme totals combine SaniTap-delivered and MadAvance-delivered results. Country context figures cite third-party sources (World Bank, WHO/UNICEF JMP, Global Forest Watch, Ministry of Water) and are dated to the reference year of the underlying dataset.
Where a metric is illustrative rather than credited — for example hectares of deforestation avoided, derived from tonnes of non-renewable biomass saved at ~204 t/ha — this is called out in the notes alongside the value.
